Phytoplankton evolution, taxonomy and ecology, dedicated to Greta A. Fryxell
This volume is dedicated to Professor G.A. Fryxell in recognition of her long distinguished career in the taxonomy and ecology of phytoplankton, especially the diatoms, and the considerable influence she ha had on all those who have interacted with her and as a mentor of young scientists. It features 21 reviewed papers. Contents on request.

This Catalogue lists the hepatics and hornworts from Chile, Argentinia and Uruguay, by their legitimate and illegitimate names, and provides information on type specimens, published figures, maps, bibliographic citations and localities. There are also Annotations on non legitimate and erroneous names. The Systematic list on the 748 accepted names of Marchantiophyta and 24 of Anthocerotophyta of the area is complemented with the synonyms and arranged in the most recent classifications. Large areas are still under-investigated as shown in the geographic lists of the taxa present in the countries and their provinces.

The Xerula/Oudemansiella Complex (Agaricales)
This volume summarizes the taxonomic and phylogenetic knowledge of a small group of fungal, mushroom genera (Homobasidiomycota, Agaricales) centered in Xerula s.l. and Oudemansiella. The work is partitioned into several parts: introductory material including the published history of the group, application of DNA sequencing and phylogenetics to the involved taxa, world monographs of the included genera, and studies of type specimens linked to implicated taxa. Sixtyeight new taxa and / or new combinations are proposed, including four new genera (Hymenopellis, Paraxerula, Pointiculomyces, Protoxerula), and other genera are resurrected/reconfigured (Dactylosporina, Mucidula, Oudemansiella, Xerula). The descriptive text is supplemented with copious line drawings, phylogenetic trees and 31 color plates. Combining, as it does, traditional morphotaxonomy, monography, molecular applications and thorough type specimen descriptions, this volume is intended for workers in these fields, especially those interested in agaric groups. It will serve as an active monographic source as well as a reference to many taxonomic names both in and out of the targeted complex.

Bryophyte Systematics, Phytodiversity Phytosociology and Ecology. Festschrift in honour of Professor Dr. Harald Kürschner
The 23 papers of this Nova Hedwigia, Beiheft 138 span a broad range of topics in Systematics, phytodiversity, phytosociology and ecology of Bryophytesreflecting the still continuing importance of Bryology. In the Systematic part (8 contributions), a new genus, Kuerschneria, and four new species are described as new to science. Two papers include molecular analyses (genera Oxystegus and Palustriella), one a morphometric analysis of the genus Gymnostomiella, and fi ve papers deal with classical morpho-anatomical systematic treatments (moss genus Forsstroemia and liverwort genera, Ceratolejeunea and Lejeunea). The Phytodiversity part (9 contributions) presents an impressive example for the recent ongoing worldwide survey on the diversity of bryophytes, ranging from Europe to South-West Asia, Macaronesia (Selvagens Islands), the Himalayan region, southern South America and to Île Amsterdam in the South Indian Ocean. These are contributions to different countries and regions (Greece, Montenegro, Turkey, Bhutan, Chile, Sino-Himalayan region), and to the oceanic islands Selvagens and Île Amsterdam. The Phytosociology and Ecology part (5 papers) gives an impression of the phytosociological and ecological work in the Tropics (2 contributions, neotropical trunk-epiphytes), two concern vegetation units in Europe and one the ecology of genus Porella in Madeira. The volume is completed with a contribution on asexual reproduction (propagula types) in pleurocarpous mosses. The papers have been written by colleagues, former scholars and friends of Professor Dr. Harald Kürschner, to honour his distinguished scientific and academic career and his outstanding contributions to the bryology of South-West Asia, the tropical rain forests and to Geobotany.

A checklist of benthic marine algae of the tropical and subtropical western Atlantic: third revision
This "third revision" of M.J. Wynne''s "Checklist" is a rigorously prepared and updated compilation of the taxa of benthic marine algae, or seaweeds, currently recognized as occurring in the broad area of the tropical and subtropical Western Atlantic Ocean. Thus, the checklist covers the region from the warm temperate eastern United States to southern Brazil, which is the same domain as the 1960 algal flora of W.R. Taylor. It includes a total of 1,393 species of benthic marine algae: 905 red algae, 175 brown algae, and 313 green algae. When the 185 infraspecific taxa are included, the total tally of current names is 1,578. Taxonomic synonyms are also included and are listed in brackets after the current names. The latest proposals on higher and lower hierarchical levels of systematic relationships are followed, reflecting the often dramatic changes in our concepts brought about by recent molecular-based phylogenetic studies. There are also 563 notes in regard to nomenclature and distribution for many of the taxa treated. This publication includes an extensive bibliography of pertinent literature for the period following the publication of the second revision of the checklist in 2005. The checklist includes a table listing new references by geographic region (country or coastal states of the southeastern USA). This work will be a useful and timely resource to workers on marine algae not only of the Western Atlantic but also on a global perspective because of its synthesis of recent literature and presentation of the most modern classification concepts.
